Mini BBQ Bison Meatloaves

  • 1 small yellow onion minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/8 cup fresh parsley minced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 pound lean bison may substitute with ground turkey
  • 1 egg whisked
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup BBQ Sauce divided (I like Amy's organic)
  • 1/4 cup crushed whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup low-fat cheddar cheese shredded (optional)
  • salt and petter to taste


  • 1) Sautee the onions in olive oil until translucent and slowly add in the garlic and parsley. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl combine bison, egg, Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce, pepper and salt, cheese, onions and bread crumbs.
  • Divide mixture into 4 equal-sized portions then form into loaves on a foil-lined baking sheet. Spread remaining BBQ sauce over each loaf then bake for 20 minutes, or until no longer pink in the center.
  • Serve with a green vegetable and side of your choosing.

This is a great alternative to include in your dog's diet as opposed to just the typical beef or chicken-based dog foods. Serving it plain, ground with some steamed sweet potatoes or rice and greens beans makes a great dinner surprise!
