Sheet Tray Hot Dogs

Who doesn't love to watch a sporting event on a Sunday afternoon and enjoy a hot dog?! Making them on a sheet tray provides minimum cleanup compared to your grill. Hot dogs also make great training treats and kibble toppers for your pup. I included bell peppers, which can also be shared with your pup for a boost of Vitamin C, and make for a yummy hot dog topper.

  • 1 package all-beef hot dogs be sure there is no onion in the seasoning
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hot dog trimmings (I prefer whole-wheat hot dog buns ketchup, mustard and relish.)

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Toss the bell peppers in a medium bowl with the 1 tablespoon olive oil. Place the peppers on one side of the baking sheet.
  • Place the hot dogs on the other side of the baking sheet.
  • Roast until the peppers are soft and charred in spots, and the hot dogs are completely cooked through (they will begin to curl on the ends), about 15 minutes.
  • Season the two-legged family members' peppers with salt and pepper.
  • Share the hot dogs and peppers with your pup as desired and assemble your own hot dog treat!
